Erika Rottenberg
Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Trulia
I am the General Counsel of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, whose mission is to build a future for everyone, and on the Boards of NYSE-listed Twilio, a leading cloud-based communications platform and Nasdaq-listed Wix.com, a leading cloud-based web development platform.
Operationally, I am an experienced, results-oriented, values-based global Executive and GC whose LinkedIn Legal, Policy and Privacy Department's mission was to drive business results by ensuring the freedom to operate lawfully while promoting LinkedIn’s values and culture. I excelled at navigating uncharted waters, building bridges and bringing parties together -- solving sticky wickets, whether strategically or in the midst of a crisis. Passionate about building high-performing teams, by walking the talk on culture and values.
Privileged to help mentor women, executives, young professionals and students, and advise companies that are scaling globally, especially in the evolving global privacy, data security and corporate arenas. Committed to "doing good" and making a difference in our world professionally as well as through my avocations, whether through Girl Scouts (building girls of confidence, courage and character), Center for Democracy and Technology (advocating for the free, open and innovative internet), or the Silicon Valley Law Foundation (largest provider of pro bono legal services in Silicon Valley). Passionate cyclist and outdoor enthusiast.
Prior to LinkedIn, I was SVP, GC and Secretary, for Nasdaq-listed SumTotal Systems, a talent management company, and VP, Strategic Development and GC, for Nasdaq and Singapore Stock Exchange listed Creative Labs, the company that brought multimedia to the PC with the Sound Blaster sound card and launched one of the original MP3 players.
I earned my law degree from UC Berkeley and started my legal career at the Silicon Valley technology law firm Cooley Godward. I began my professional career as a special education teacher in Anchorage, Alaska.
