I am passionate about working with companies and senior executives to achieve their goals. As a lawyer, I do this by serving as outsourced general counsel to technology companies and as a counselor to senior executives and entrepreneurs on complex employment issues. In 2016 I was recognized by INC Magazine as one of the top four lawyers in Silicon Valley. This year, I decided to step away from my own law firm to join Nauto as their General Counsel. Like LinkedIn, Nauto is also a company I have represented since it was founded and presented me with an unique opportunity to join the Company on a full-time basis to build their legal team and help scale the company.

As outsourced general counsel, I play two different roles depending on the client. For start-ups, I act as the company’s general counsel. For larger companies I work with the general counsel so that our firm can be an extension of the client’s legal team providing specialized expertise in areas such as complex technology transactions and employment law issues. I have extensive experience working with tech companies and served as the first general counsel to LinkedIn; one of the first online photo-sharing websites; and a venture backed software company. I also represent Fortune 500 technology companies such as Seagate Technology LLC.

For individuals, I represent founders, CEOs, entrepreneurs and financial services executives on complex employment negotiations with a niche practice of advising founders and CEOs personally in the sale of their companies. I also counsel companies on employment law. I have been recognized for the last 10 years as one of the top attorneys in Northern California and have also been recognized by Best Lawyers in America.

Lev Mass is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at XSeed Capital, bringing extensive expertise in cloud computing, mobile, and business development.

Prior to joining XSeed, Lev ran operations and business development for the Cloud Group at Yahoo!. While at Yahoo!, Lev helped to facilitate the spin-off of the Hadoop Group into what is now Hortonworks, a leading big data company. In addition, he held a number of executive roles at Yahoo! helping to define strategy for mobile, social, cloud and big data. Previous to Yahoo!, Lev was an investment banker with Thomas Weisel Partners focused on TMT (technology, media, telecommunications) and health technology.
